How the numbers are worked out
- 1.Platform cost per month = the plan fee plus the platform's cut of your revenue. On Teachable's Starter plan that cut is 7.5%, so $5,000 of sales loses $375 before the plan itself.
- 2.Your own platform = the build paid once, then a fixed monthly cost. It doesn't grow when your sales grow, which is the whole point.
- 3.The break-even month is the build cost divided by the monthly difference. Every month after it is money you keep.
- 4.Card fees (Teachable Payments, Thinkific Payments, Stripe, CMI) are left out on purpose: you pay them either way, so they don't change the comparison.
